Delivering Real Impact
Making sure that population demand in Southern Africa does not surpass the carrying capacity of local natural capital is the main goal of our regional sustainability analysis.
We are committed to providing decarbonised, sustainable ecological solutions where they are most required since we have identified regional resource deficiencies in the following nations that either put strain on the environment or depend on resource imports.
🇳🇦 Namibia | Windhoek Direct Potable Reuse (DPR)
The Windhoek Direct Potable Reuse (DPR) facility in Namibia, which is currently run by Veolia, is a world-class example of direct potable reuse technology that establishes the standard for sustainable water management throughout Southern Africa.
🇧🇼 Botswana | Delivering tailored ecological solutions
Veolia is actively growing its municipal and industrial presence across Botswana, delivering tailored ecological solutions that support Botswana's sustainable development goals and long-term infrastructure resilience.
As Botswana faces increasing pressure on water resources, urban growth, and environmental compliance, Veolia brings proven expertise across the following services:
Water Treatment & Supply
Providing municipalities and industrial clients throughout Botswana with drinking water production, water treatment plant operation, and water quality management—supporting a dependable, secure, and sustainable water supply in Gaborone, Francistown, and the surrounding areas.
Energy Solutions
Supporting Botswana's decarbonisation process by helping companies and local governments reduce carbon emissions and boost energy efficiency through the use of waste-to-energy systems, energy monitoring tools, and renewable energy integration.
Veolia is dedicated to being a long-term ecological partner as Botswana develops its industrial and urban infrastructure, providing low-carbon, sustainable solutions that safeguard the nation's natural resources and promote its goal of sustainable growth.
Through this regional network, Veolia is able to exchange information between reserve and deficit regions, utilising both local experience and international best practices to provide continuous, sustainable excellence throughout Southern Africa.
Presence
Across the Subcontinent
It is important for us to remain sustainable within our approach to each case.
These are the few aspects we consider core:
Footprint Analysis: research, analyze the regional footprint i.e. energy, water and land
Deficit vs. Reserve: we identify regions with lower footprint than its biocapacity is classified as “reserve”, and higher footprint shows us a “deficit”
Urban vs. Regional: when studying an area, we analyze spatial density and urban resource use to improve and create policy
What
Local Ecological Footprints Mean
The commitment of our regional experts, who are aware of the particular difficulties that Southern African communities and industries face, is the foundation of our teams' success.
We provide solutions that are both top-notch and locally applicable thanks to Veolia's established technologies and worldwide standards.
One initiative, one collaboration, one community at a time, we are working together to create a more sustainable future for Southern Africa.
